I feel like I am getting to sloppy in the way I talk . I use words that are probably not words. Most of the time I don't use full sentences. I forget the proper grammer. I want to speak correctly because I have the rep of being good with english . I live in New Mexico . The funny thing is I was born Germany and I talk like I am from texas.
Can you help?

I am goin' through this phase were I try to make people think I am not sloppy or a slob. I also said I have the rep for being good with english - it was my best subject .
It is a lot of fun to not be so percise in the way you talk. I have cousins in Texas and the one I'm closest to has a deep accent maybe it's kinda contiagous. I guess with this so called
" perfection " phase , maybe I just need to get the hell over myself and not worry about my low points.

don't change who you are! there's no point to it. It's okay to have flaws because that's what makes you unique. I have a Cali accent/slang talk. it's just a part of where you live, you can't help that. unless you were an actress or something that's when it would be important.

Southerner's communicate properly.....i'm a Southerner residing in Vermont. Many words i exploit or no longer the comparable as they use. yet..i does not exchange my dialect for no longer something!! undecided what slang you're utilising...Is it the rather words..or the way you're saying them...The southern dialect, in itself, isn't slang, to a Southerner. it would desire to sound that thank you to others, yet undergo in innovations...they might sound slangy to you besides would. in the adventure that your conversing 'cleanly' and 'respectfully' i does not complication approximately changing the dialect. i'm extremely happy with my 'Southern Dialect'... I artwork in customer provider, and extremely some clientele have complemented me on my 'dialect'. it rather is between the failings that make me 'specific'.. i ought to upload this...Who makes a decision what's 'appropriate english'...And why can we enable them to 'call the photos?' Being aware of a problem is the most important step in improving. One way you can help yourself is by reading into a tape recorder, then playing it back and listening critically to what you hear.
You're only talking about your spoken language, but just a suggestion: use your spell checker to improve your written language at the same time.
Good luck!

Try to get over that. Read as much as you can and study the speech of people whose speech you admire.
By the way - there's not a lot of fun about Germany.
Congratulations on fleeing the place. (NOT a nice place to live but I wouldn't want to live there. Anybody who disagrees has a perfect right to his own stupid opinion.)
Easy,now. Only kidding.

If your truly serious its not that hard...reading is a good start get a dictionary. If you already know your speach patterns are wrong thats more then half the battle to correct it...or take an english course in your local college at night...

Well I am born and raised and live in South Louisiana and we do not (most of us) speak proper English, tend to talk too fast, and don't fully complete or words...
So yes I can relate.

I have a similar case. I am from Wyoming. I used to talk properly until I moved away from Wyoming. I live in Oklahoma now and sometimes my parents don't even know what I mean when I talk. lol Oh well I just live with it. When I need to talk properly I do otherwise who cares...

That's just the way you talk. If it bothers you that much, you can take some courses at the college to help you perfect your speech. I would love to take those courses but I'm always busy with work.

Well you should learn how to write proper english as well. Although, writing and talking are seemingly intertwined. A good book to get is english grammar 101 or college writing for students..or englsh grammar for dummies. fast, simple and to the point.

I was raised in Florida and to this day I still use the dialect and slang once in a while. Don't feel bad about it. It displays your heritage.
