The opinion questions are the ones I answer, I do find it a bit annoying people don't just google something quickly before posting, though of course it does give people 2 points then one person 10

To be connected to PEOPLE. A person thought about them, via their question, and thought of an answer. Especially if the answer is funny, but not rude, that's a bonus.
I'm sure they check the net, but some people have LIVED the answer to the question, so it means more.

Good question. I think some people like to see how many responses they get. This question doesn't fall into that category because it's an opinion question.

maybe they feel there are more experienced users out there . Unsure of themselves. And the answers they get can reach others maybe looking for the same thing

Call them practical or lazy but finally intelligent because they know someone else will do it to get the 2 points and then the 10.
