My great-grandmother who was from Spain used to tell this story to keep my mother from wandering far from home as a child. She said that a caped man would appear on the corner and would take you away if you went far from home. I'm not sure of the spelling but I think it sounds like "Prové la Manta". Thanks!!

I never heard of it, but parents' use of a "boogeyman" to scare kids into good behavior is almost universal. Only the names change.

Sounds like a really great Spanish dish, but probably just something Grandma used as a scare tactic

I have no knowledge of spanish,so could you translate this into english and run a search? Annother caped guy but this one is evil, nice twist. El Cid, and Zorro wore capes, but no evil people.
