I mean when you freezer, fridge, cooker has broken down, you want to buy a replacement right away, if its a freezer you probably have frozen food, your try to save, dotted around to friends neighbours and family, which is acceptable for a day or to, but when you find out the quickest you can get a suitable replacement is 30 working days its not

Or you got to do without a cooker and you got 5 children to cook for and the company promised 5 working days and then never calls you after you ring to say I took unpaid leave off work to sit and wait for them to deliver and it didn't turn up, they promise to call back and never do, they took your money, so you cancel cause they broke the contract by not delivering when promised, you then get told that due to how they operate, the quickest you can get your money back is in 30 working days, so they leave you high and dry unable to go buy elsewhere as they have all your saved money , how do companies keep getting away with it?

Had asked about delivery. hence why we went ahead with the order.

Well cancelled it - lucky, we paid no money up front, but friends did - left unable to buy cooker elsewhere, until fully refunded (30 work days by cheque), they rang other day threat take comp to 'WD' comp suddenly able to refund back into bank acc. 2 days later!

If you don't know a company can't stop you cancelling nor charge you cancel fee if THEY broke the contract .

we ordered elsewhere now, got better del date and with time slot!!

thanks all for your replies
we need to complain and take custom elsewhere if can, be it £5 or £50,000 its the pinciple of the matter

They can't get away with it, unless you let them.

I've been in the same position as you and when I go to a shop to buy the replacement I ask for a list of what they have in stock TODAY, then look at those items to decide which meets my requirements.

It then goes into the back of my car and home with me, or a next day guaranteed delivery arranged. The important thing is to make sure that you write on your order that delivery date is a part of the contract.

The Delivery Company's reply is not good enough!!! You now write to the Managing Director of that company and DEMAND re-imbursement of the money you have paid PLUS for EVERY DAY this is not returned to you you claim interest (at 4 3/4 percent per day). Furthermore, if this money is not paid to you within 5 working days, you will issue proceedings in the County (Small Claims Court).

That should elicit a response pretty damn quick!!!

Good Luck!!!!!

sorry you should have asked about delivery dates when you bought and gone to a shop that could deliver when you wanted

you should go to citizens advice or complain in writting to the head office or go to the shop and demand your money or replacement there and then especially when the shop is full it works wonders
