I was in 8th grade, and I had just arrived at school. My first class for the day was Band, but I arrived 20 minutes early (as I usually did), and saw the television on ABC with live video of both towers hit. Being very young and knowing very little about terrorism back then, I thought initially that it was an extremely tragic accident.
Throughout the rest of the day, my teachers would not turn on the televisions in their classroom because they didn't want us to have to see it (made sense, we were only middle schoolers). But I would hear kids pass by me during passing-period saying "One of the towers has fallen!" and later "The other one has also fallen!" and I thought all day that they were just making it up.
When my dad heard about the news, he called my mom and told her to stay near the school for the entire day just incase the school had to be evacuated. Talk about excellent preparation by my parents. So, mom stayed out in the car for the next seven hours.
September 11, 2001 was also my mom's 46th birthday. The night before, my dad and I made a 'birthday CD' for my mom that we could listen to on our way back home that afternoon. She was so surprised and happy that she cried in joy. It was an interesting perspective: On a day in which our nation's freedom was attacked, it could not change our family's happiness.
As soon as I walked inside the house after finishing hearing the rest of the CD in the car, I turned on the television, and it right as I turned it on, Tower #7 was beginning to fall. If I remember right, I think it was sometime around 4:20 central time.

i was sitting at my desk when one of my teachers came in and set up a tv set so we could see what he had just heard on the radio. went to a private school with only about 25 kids so we were all sitting in front of that one tv. when it sank in that it was real and not a joke or prank my fists were clenched so hard that i broke the armrest of my chair. I was extremely ticked off and wanted to find myself a jetfighter and retaliate. But our school is also located not too far from a nuclear power plant so we were sent home in case something should happen that way we would be with our families. I remember that day clear as if it was yesterday, I still have a poem I wrote that night about the whole deal, and it was the reason I tried my hardest to become a MARINE.

I was in my apt. in Sobe.
I had woken up just before 8 AM - rare for me to be up that early and I had no t.v. so I had no clue when anything happened until my friend called me and told me about it. By then, both towers and the pentagon had been hit. My friend was just telling me what had happened and my jaw dropped. I couldn't say a damn word.
I immediately went over to her house and we were glued to the t.v. the rest of the day.
By the time I got there, thank God, I had missed all the live footage of people jumping out of the buildings, a thing for which I was most grateful later, when I heard about it.
I was numb, like everyone else.
I cried the whole week.

I had just left a motel in Louisiana on my way back to San Antonio from Florida. As soon as I heard the news about the first tower being hit, I just knew it was terrorism. Later, of course, the news people started saying that.
My first visual was when I stopped off in Houston at a MacDonald's I guess, then got to see the burning tower on rerun.
I was pretty much in shock as they announced that the tall buildings in Houston were closing down, and that gas stations would stop selling gas at 10AM.

I was at home getting ready for work. My husband had already left.
I turned on the tv right after the first one hit the 1st tower. I was glued. I had to call my husband on his cell and then everyone I knew! When I got to work my heart was pumping. I had heard
on the way about the pentagon! I was scared! You don't hear
about these things happening in the US. Not in our lifetime. I was
born in 74. That is why I totally support the war on terror! I voted
for Bush and I will continue to vote for any president that supports
the war on terror! I will not give up my freedom and be scared
all the time to go places because of car bombs etc! We have enough of our own sickos in this country but at least I'm not scared all the time!

I was at home, just finished work (i live in Singapore) when my mum called telling me to watch the news..What I can remember clearly, and upsets me most up till today are the images of the firefighters running up the building when everyone was coming down...not long after, the building collapsed. The look on their faces is something I would never ever forget. Fathers, husbands, brothers and sons of other people...but i felt the pain and still do.

I was eating breakfast and just turn on the tv I thought I was watching a movie, then I finally realized it was real. I called out my husband to come out from the bedroom as he is getting ready for work and he cannot believe what is happening. He did not even eat his breakfast and ran out the door for work as he is an Air Traffic Controller they have to bring all the airplane on land no one is allowed to take off that day. I will never forget 9/11 so many lives was lost that day. That is the day that our country went to war with the terrorist. So lets not forget why Bush is determine to get rid of the Al Quaida and Iraq, to help the people in Iraq regain their FREEDOM from suppression from terrorism. ENJOY OUR FREEDOM

Waking up after 1 hour of sleep, thinking I was dreaming. I stayed glued to the tv set for almost a week. Totally surreal...every September 11 since has been like a horrible nightmare coming back time and time again.

Was in London at work having a meeting getting bored out my head.. then suddenly everyone was telling us to watch the TV. It was on, we were seeing the first World Trade centre in smoke.... we were thinking "WTF" and people not knowing what happened.
Then after a short while of pondering, we saw a second plane go into the other building WTC tower 2.... thats when it struck us... we thought it was a terrorist attack... but who is to blame?!?!? the US has so many enemies ....
Anyway we all saw the world trade centre collapse under the heat of the flames ..... it was terrible....
My brother had a few members of his team working in the building at the time..... it's just so weird.....
We then looked at the manager for the next course of action.
Half of the team ran to the disaster recovery sites ready for anything... and the rest of us had to go home...ASAP.
hell the whole of London was told to go home.
It was one of the most surreal moments that I've ever had to experience...... you only expect this stuff in films. never in real life.
But then again I went through hurricane Rita on holiday too... talk about timing....

I was sleeping, but had the tv on. I had been up all night with a sick baby. I thought I was dreaming, because I kind of woke up and heard it. I had to get up and take my baby to the doctor, and when I did wake up for real, I learned it was REAL! I watched things unfold, at the doctors office, with the nurses and doctor, all gathered around a little tv. It is a day most will remember, just like the day Kennedy got shot.
