We need to plant some fast growing vines against a wired -screened area and are considering Passion flowers and the Morning glories ... we have two pet dwarf Nigerian goats who could reach the vines and possibly nibble on them. Are they poisonous/ at risks??!!

no problem in the poison department. the morning glory is in the sweet potato family and the passion flower often can put out small eatable fruit.
the real problem is the goats. my ex mother-in-law had several dwarf nigerian goats. the ate everything that grew within reach as fast as it came out of the ground. i don't think your vines stand a chance.

Ipomoea seeds are very toxic & they produce lots of seeds. Passiflore have an edible fruit but most are not hardy below 40 degrees. Check out clematis with 200 species & 400 cultivars , growing in zones 4-9. I have a local variety that was started from seed, is evergreen &very hardy, with small white flowers. Find out what your neighbors have. Good Luck

New York? I lived in Texas and planted them one time, and they were beautiful, and came back every year. The vines were covered with flowers, maybe a flower every 4 inches? But, I really can't say if NY would be different.
