just curious... also this movie is completley different but i have been wanting to rent the hills have eyes. ive heard the movie sucks, but i was wondering if it is at least interesting to watch..most horror movies today suck anyways...

Absolutely. I felt it deserved the numerous Academy nominations it received and for those it won, including Best Picture. I think it was a great film because, well, 1) the cast was incredible and, 2) it was a fresh idea, or original and distinctive from other films from years previous as well as films of that year. Easily, American Beauty ranks in the upper-third of my top 100 movies of all-time.

"American Beauty" is a fantastic movie. There's a reason why it won best picture you know. If a movie is even nominated, you know it's a good movie. Even "brokeback mountain", you might not like the subject matter of a movie, but it doesn't take away from the cinematic genius of the film, Whatever the film may be. Your other pick, on the other hand, is what a good picture is not. Though it's hard to write a convincing horror film like "saw", for example. "the hills have eyes" is the kind of movie that relies entirely on gore, rather that substance. And that might be OK when your a young viewer, this adult needs something a little more cerebral...

Yes I enjoyed it....I don't know why but I think movies where families have that many problems is kind of amusing, but mainly I think it's because the story has a lot of truth to it (maybe slightly exaggerated). I like pretty much any Kevin Spacey movie.
I haven't seen The Hills Have Eyes but I've heard mixed opinions on it. Many people said it sucked (which wouldn't surprise me) because it's not so much scary as it is gory. Other people have said it was frightening.

Yes, i liked American Beauty. The hills have eyes was so boring I watched like 10/15 minutes and couldn't get into it so I shut it off. I'm glad I didn't have to pay to see it. Yes, almost all horror movies suck nowadays, they certainly don't make them like they used to.

American Beauty was a great movie..I saw the Hills Have Eyes in the theater and I was pretty disappointed though I have seen worse.

American Beauty is fantastic!
Kinda like getting kicked in the head at the end of the movie. I mean that as its a powerful, heavy movie. Lots of funny dark humor in the movie as well.
Four out of four stars!

The movie is a really well shot film- I found it really depressing, but it also had a ring of truth to it. The acting is top drawer all around. It won several Oscars, and it is definitely worth seeing. I don't know anything about the othe movie.
