Is it possible for us to connect our computer directly to the Network without using the telecoms or other Internet Service Providers?

Yes. However, it basically involves becoming your *own* ISP - which means you need to buy routers and lease the long-haul connections (or string several hundred miles of fiberoptic your self - including getting permission from each property owner you lay cable across) and learn how to do BGP peering and a lot of other stuff. Be prepared to spend *easily* $10K/month doing it ..

And then you need to worry about "buying transit" - whcih basically means you need to pay somebody else to carry packets to parts of the Internet that your own network won't reach. Currently, there's only about a dozen network providers hat are so-called "Tier 1" or "transit-free" - everybody else is paying for at least *some* connectivity. So unless you're a Sprint or MCI or Level3 or similar, be ready to fork out more bucks....

I don't think so. It would probably cost you more to do that than to just pay an ISP to use their connection. I think you cannot do that because the Internet is owned and run by corporations that cooperate with each other and lease access to smaller companies that sell us access.

Now, you could run your own network using only cables, telephone lines, or radio communication, but that would not be the same network as the Internet. So you have to use a middle man to get access to the Internet unless you own a large company or are insanely rich. Have a good night!

you dont need a isp to connect to a internal network which is consisting of either switches or hubs but that is only connecting you to the computers directly in your house or office. If you want to get on the internet you have to have a ISP
