i was for 15 yrs. no it's not scary. it's just a job. people think it's sad and scary because for the most part their association with funerals is when someone they know dies. so they think it's always that way. believe me it's not. like i said it's a job. by the way i have literally seen thousands of bodies. they DO NOT ever sit up. urban myth.

I have a good friend who is a mortician. He's never mentioned being scared. He tells jokes nonstop and some of the stories he tells are kind of morbid, but it's funeral home humor.

Another friend of mine used to manage and live in a funeral home. She didn't do the embalming or anything, just helping plan the funerals. I was kind of freaked out at first. The funeral home was downstairs and she lived upstairs.

We used to go over every weekend and cookout, party, drink and act like normal. You knew there was a dead person in the next room, but you got used to it.

I don't know what would make a person want to be a mortician, but the ones I know are very fun outgoing people. I've definitely heard some weird stories, but none of them seem to be afraid of dead people.

No ,I have a mortician friend . You get very used to it . At first it may be scary because sometimes the bodies can sit up on their own and moan out their last breath . It's normal , it has to do with nerves.

I'm not a mortician, but I wouldn't find it scary I don't think.

But I'd say it's probably very quiet, and boring, as, you're dealing with dead people instead of live ones. >_>
