Turtles have a mind of their own when they are ready to pack up and leave. They can be pretty determined little guys. Are you sure he left? Maybe he is hiding somewhere.
Put up flyers and offer a reward. I'm sorry to say that unless someone spots him, you probably won't see him again.

Place some food out and just hope he likes your pond better than some other nearby water source. If he comes back, put up a little fence around the pond so it can't run away again (it will also help protect the turtle from predators).

That happened to me to but he was a tortoise It's been like 3 yrs. and we haven't found him. Where I like a hawk could of gotten him. Don't know where you live. Sorry

If your yard is enclosed, even partially, search along the fence for it.

If your yard is open, it is probably gone. Sorry!
