I'm 16 weeks pregnant..and my belly is not very big yet, just a little bit,?
I think it is normal. The baby shows the normal size for its gestational age, so I'm not concerned about this. But my stomach area( not the baby area) is getting bigger too.I mean not much so that I would be concerned but I'm just curious and wondering if it's common for pregnant women, because the babby is pushing the intestines and the other organs up, or this is because I've been staying in bed, and not moving a lot for two months due to severe morning sickness, and my muscles are weak and so they let my stomach to show up like sometimes it does in some men(and women)?
So I'm not so supple anymore.
PS: I'm not fat at all, just 104 lb for 5.6 feet, I would say under weight for pregnancy, as I lost 20 pounds during the first trimester.
Sorry for such a silly question...

The whole abdomen will get a little bigger as your organs are being squished together up under your ripcage and such. Plus with the whole not showing much thing I haven't started to gain weight until recently and I'm 18 weeks pregnant with a little girl. The doctor told me that since I lost so much at the beginning of pregnancy and am only just now starting to gain weight that when she sees me at 22 weeks she wants me to have gained a whole 6 lbs and she doesn't care HOW I do it even though I still get morning sickness and am in my 2nd trimester. So my advice is to eat foods with a bit more caloric value to them along with foods like spinach on your salads for added iron which is needed as your blood volume increases. Again all of this was told to me by my nurse/midwife and so I believe it's pretty safe to go by lol. Anyways try to put on a lil bit of weight and then you should be fine. Don't worry about it too much. This is my first pregnancy too. You can email me if you would like someone to talk to about all this. We can learn together and I don't know anyone with babies or small children or who are prego right now so I get a bit lonely going through all the aches and pains alone. I'd be glad for the company. Hope this all helps!

Sounds like your doctor isn't worried, so you probably shouldn't be either. There is more than just baby taking up room in your stomach now, so it makes sense that you should get bigger throughout more of your stomach area.

If you're still having the morning sickness really bad, ask you doctor about Zofran. It is for nausea in Chemo patients, but it has now been approved for morning sickness as well. I had incapacitating morning sickness with my first three and tried just about everything. Then when I got pregnant with #4 I started getting sick again and I assumed that I was destined for another rough 4 months. Then the doctor told me about Zofran. I was still queasy and didn't gain weight, but I didn't throw up all the time and lose weight like I did with the others.

Good luck!

It's normal. You are just like me when i was pregnant. I didn't show a belly until i was in my sixth month. That was even at the late part of that month. I am small framed 5'2 113 but i was also small before i was pregnant. I just think some women tend to show more than others. My baby boy ended up weighing 7 lbs. 21 in. And everyone thought my baby would be small. Shows them!!!

sweetie there is nothing silly about your question or any other question about pregnancy. every woman and every pregnancy is different. your body is perfectly normal my thing would be to watch your weight and make sure you gain enough throughout your pregnancy. since your so small doctor might reccommend 35ibs(and i know its normal for some women especially with morning sickness to lose inthe first trimester) also know that as you get bigger the muscles in your tummy seperate so as you sit up ur tummy will look funny. dont worry after the baby if born itll all go back to normal........eventually. good luck and i wish you a healthy baby

No one can tell, and you need to go and see a regular doctor. you also need prenatal vitamins. you need all of your strength for birth, no need for you to stay in bed unless the doctor put you on bed rest for a specific reason. I had twins and was quite active up to 7 months. I was short and did not show till my 5th month. I had a baby 7lb and 6,4 . Dont fool around with losing weight when pregnant, please go see a doctor, if for no other reason than to calm your mind and not have nagging worries that something may be wrong.

congrats.

You are probably bloated on top of everything else I would not worry about it. Just worry about feeding that baby :) !! I know how bad morning sickness is and I hope it is better for you.............
