They went for the glory but glory in this case turned into gory. They did not realize that American Civic Philosophy was never going to apply to the people in the Middle East. The Middle Easterners are very different people with deeply different history, customs, habits and behavior patterns.
The Western style clothing and entertainment, as we can see on TV, has become popular in many places in the Middle East, but not in all places or all of any one place.
But that look modern of clothing and modern communication does not mean that Iraqis are different beyond the depth of their skin from twenty years ago. And most of the real determinant factors in peoples behavior and attitudes where frankly dismissed as irrelevant by the Bush Administrations.
So, here we are. This group of men and woman under Bush made many of the same mistakes as the leadership made in Vietnam. First, they went to war with people half way around the world without knowing those people. The number of tanks, chemical weapons and army divisions are not the most important things to know about people when you are going to invade them.
Johnson and Nixon did not know the Vietnamese in the same way the Bush Administration did not know the Iraqi's. That was the fatal mistake.
100,000.00 of people demonstrated against the Iraq War before it started, but no one in the Administration was the slightest bit curious about what the Demonstrators were saying and why they were so upset.
We saw this result coming, but America has still got this idea that the World out there really wants to be American or should be.

I suppose it could be genetic. But, its really about oil, oil and more oil. They're both in the pockets of the Big Oil companies - who, by the way, in case you missed it, posted record profits during the last quarter. Just wait until the day the oil starts flowing out of Iraq - then watch their profits go up. And watch the Dynamic Duo smile a lot while we're paying $4 or more for a gallon of gas.

You are absolutely right! Those gentle, peaceful terrorists were FRAMED and don't want to kill anyone! The twin towers? That was just a radar glitch. The USS Cole? That was probably just rust. The US embassy in Kenya? Nothing more than a gas pipeline leak. And today's information about them supposedly trying to blow up 12 transatlantic airline flights with liquid explosives? Nonsense. They love people too much to ever do such a thing! Heck! Just last week I saw a video clip of Osama Bin Ladin handing out lollypops to US GI's in Afghanistan. So clever of you to see through the smokescreen!

you may`t them evaluate with Hitler. If some human being turned right into a devil and Anti-Christ, it become Hitler. tens of millions of human beings died, because he lived. i imagine, Bush isn´t the great president united statesa. ever had. He made a tremendous variety of blunders operating example the decission for warfare. a tremendous variety of youthful innocents of people died for a incorrect warfare. that is not any longer democracy what he favor for Irak. Years in the past, united statesa. turned right into a pal of Sadam Hussein. i imagine, united statesa.´s politicians idea, that they had a puppet on a string. yet suddently he didn´t do what united statesa. predicted. And so he unexpectedly become the enemy. They hunted for a reason to interrupt Sadams ability and so as that they made up a narrative of causes. i imagine, they knew each and every of the time, that it wasn´t authentic what they instructed to the international to take care of the starting up of the warfare. some days in the past Bush stated, he thinks, its a sparkling Vietnam. And only for this time, he stated the thruth. The warfare isn´t for democrcy that is for ability and oil.

It's all about pure and simple greed. But Bush and Cheney and their Halliburton mindset aren't the only ones who prosper during wartime and threats of war.
It happened during Lyndon Johnson's terms and during Reagan's terms.
I personally believe it is immoral to profit from the bloodshed of American soldiers but it will probably always be the same. Greed knows few morals.

First off, when they were young enough to go to war, they did not. Now they prove how brave they are by making other people do what they had neither the guts or the honor to do.

mostly because they make lots of money on war. have you read Bush on The Couch? His sister's death was no good for him, as his parents golfed the day she died and held no funeral and wouldn't talk about her. The psychiatrist/author argues that Bush learned from that to not feel about death. He's learned so well!

Because like many Republicans, they believe the solution to every problem is war. And the cost in terms of lives? Unimportant.
