The answer is, very carefully. You need to prioritize in order of importance. School is the very most important, so you need to find something that will not interfere in your studies. (Something that leaves enough time to continue getting good grades.)
Also, I don't know if there is a work program in your school, but often times there is, maybe you should talk to your guidance counsilor and see what he has to say about it.
When I tell you to call school the most important, I mean this from the bottom of my heart. You will have a job that you probably wont necessarily like to begin with, until you graduate. (Like McDonalds or something of the like.) If you don't treat school as the most important thing, you will find yourself in these types of jobs for the rest of your life. Please believe me when I tell you, you should NEVER settle for anything, always shoot higher than your present circumstance. (For instance, I started in a show Theater in Branson, Missouri, and worked my way up to the Corporate Coordinator, in a year. If you asked me do I settle now being the second highest person in the 20 companies that I help run, I will tell you no. I can still do better, and I will!)
Good luck to you, and don't forget to hit the books heavy... you have two years to help you secure your future, don't lose out on life by wrongly prioritizing.

Your hours working will be limited because you're in school. The time you get off when school is in session the next day is mandated by the government. Also, the total number of hours you're able to work is dependant upon your age. At most, if you're 16, you're allowed to work 30 hours a week. But remember: YOU'RE the one who's going to school and that should be your number one priority. If you feel that working more than 20 hours a week while going to school will be too much of a strain, tell you employer that and ask them to only have you work 4 short shifts a week or something. Most employers will work with students for scheduling requests and needs. The best advice I can give you is to know your rights! Read up on child labor laws for your age range and be sure to know them well. If you do get a job and your employer isn't following the child labor laws, it can get them into a great deal of trouble including hefty fines and jail time.

well, look for a job that has hours afterschool such as 4/5-9 because you don't want to stay out all night working when there is homework to be done and also when you need to get your sleep.
try working as much as you can on weekends, but don't get addicted to working so you earn more and more money, it isn't healthy because you need to spend time with your friends and family as well as do homework and projects.
i suggest the store called Hallmark. I'm not sure if you have it around where you live but i think most cities and towns do have it. it's a great place, you deal with friendly people and it's a very easy job. plus they close at 9/10 which leaves room for other activities that night. my niece works there and she is 15.
but i will warn you, please try to avoid working at fast food chains because a lot of the times they will keep you until close that night (which could be well into midnight) because they need the help even if your supposed to get off at 9. Unless of course the place closees around 9 or 10.
another suggestion i have is to work as a hostess at a resturant. the only thing is that you have to interact with people the whole time and this ican be uncomfortable to shy people.
you could also apply to work at the library. i've heard that it is a very easy job and that once you know the system you barely have to spend a lot of time doing things. they have very reasonable hours too.
i hope this helped you!

Get a weekend job.
Think about it this way, invest time in yourself to become a better student instead investing time in some little company you work for.
Unless you need the money to help out your family I wouldn't worry too much and I would just get a weekend job.
Let me put it this way, if you want to go to college there is a fine line between making the money for it or making the grade for it. Making the grade is the most important thing for college so if your grades slip you'll need to quit the job ASAP.

You can successfully do both. You just have to keep your priorities straight by putting school first and foremost. Decide whether or not you want to do after school school activities like sports. If you play sports or are part of the drama club, then I wouldn't recommend working. It might be too much.
But before you decide to work instead of participate in school stuff, remember that you will be working for the rest of your life and might not always have an opportunity to play or be involved in high activities.
Good luck honey, and HAVE FUN!!

Forget work. Go to high school with 100% effort. Make better grades. (It's proven that kids who have jobs don't do as well at school.) When you graduate, go to college. After you graduate from college, you will make over 2 million dollars in your lifetime. (And that statistic is based on research from 1988.)
If you work now, you will be paid badly now, and probably the rest of your life.
Forget the job. School is your job. You owe it to yourself.

You do school mon-fri of course, as soon as you get out, go to work. It's best to keep your shifts as close to school as possible, in my opinion. Keep your shifts short...probably have to since you're underage...but when you get home, take a short nap and eat dinner to give yourself a bit of energy then do homework....if you're in sports of clubs, then you'll have to work around that as well...try working for maybe 3 hours after all of that or just on weekends. Some places aren't allowed to work minors over a certain amount of time or past a certain time, maybe pick up a 2nd job but don't burn yourself out.

Yeah, I know several people that do it, but it's really hard. You have to ask yourself if wearing the name brand is worth giving up most of your free time. Because that's what it'll mean. Between school, homework, your job, and taking care of odds and ends around the house, you won't have much time for anything else. Sorry to say that, but you probably wanted an honest assessment, right? I really respect that you're willing to work for what you want. Take all factors into consideration before making your decision.
