As long as there are no rain outs or games missed for any other reason that are not made up there are 162 games in a MLB season. and if there is a tie for a playoff spot at the end of the year a 1 game playoff would make it 163 games.

In MLB, there are 162 regular season games for every team in the league (that's about 6.04 months of baseball, more if the player participate in either World Baseball Classic or spring training). Each team gets to play 81 home games that are spread out in series against teams (same goes for away games). If their is a rainout or other weather-related condition that force to postpone a game, then that particuar game could be made up as a double-header in the near future (two games in one day or one game if a series finale rain-out, then it would be a special one game against the team). Rain-delay that doesn't postpone the game counts for one game. If their is a weather-related condition that force to postpone after 5 innings of play, then the team that has the lead wins the game or tie it. If by regular season has two team tied for first place or a wildcard will do a coinflip to determine who host a one-game elimination for the playoff spot.
