You don't have to. I have one and i don't have a pump. I just have a Betta container that it lives in.

Betta fish are a great pet. They are easy to take care of. They can live in a small fish bowl. They can grow to about three in. long. They don't need an air pump for their water. Because unlike other fish they have special gills that help them get air even in dirty cloudy water.

Betta fish eat blood worms, brine shrimp, krill, mosquito larvae, black worms and more. They can eat them live but I recommend going to any pet store and buying betta fish food with these in it. They will eat flake or pellets as long as the the food is for betta fish it should be ok. Betta fish also like to have a variety of food so they are not eating the same thing all the time.

Feeding the Betta fish to much can make the water dirty. Clean the water out when ever it looks dirty. It won't hurt the fish if you move it to a different bowl. Don't put betta fish in the same bowl because they will fight each other to the death especially the males.

I love my Betta fish they are fun to take care of. The only thing I really don't like about them is cleaning them out all time. But other then that they are a fun and interesting pet to have.

Do you NEED a pump and filter? No. But, just because Bettas can live in small puddles during times of drought, doesn't mean they were meant to LIVE in tiny pools of water. My Betta has his own 5 gallon aquarium with gravel, fake plants, filter and in the winter a little heater. Just because I could probably survive in a closet if someone fed me, doesn't mean I'd have a good life! I love the website www.bettatalk.com. Lots of great info! And BTW, it has been proven that the larger the tank, the longer the Betta will live.

With only one fish, no. Bettas spend most of their time near the surface, with easy access to oxygen. The better thing to have in a Beta bowl is a plant or two, as this simulates natural habitat.

They don't really need all that. Bettas can live pretty much anywhere there is enough water for them to swim in.. I wouldn't be surprised if it got stuck in the filter. Their fins are long and it could easily get sucked in. I would try just a regular fish bowl... Bettas are easily to please and can live in many conditions.. that is why most pet shops will recommend them to customers.

not required if you keep the water clean, they breath at the surface with a lung-like organ but still do breath a small percentage using their gills. Too much bubbles can be disturbing for bettas. keep the water warm 85-89 degrees

don't feed flake food, too messy for bettas and not enough protein. get Betta bits.

Nope -- bettas do well in bowls too. They seem to do best in a gallon or two; they often die if placed in a tank bigger than 20 gallons. Just make sure the water has been dechlorinated before you put him in, and let it set out for a few hours to get to room temperature.

please dont buy betta fish they are confined to dirty bowls and vases. These tiny glass enclosures are hardly acceptable homes for bettas, who, in nature, swim in large ponds and streams. Sadly, many people buy betta fish because they think that they can “save them.” What they don’t realize is that this just creates a demand for them, so stores will just keep buying more and more fish, condemning them to miserable lives as a trinket or accessory in someone’s home. heres a site about them

They do fine in a bowl without pump and filter. But, I have my two in their own seperate tank, and they both have a small filter and pump. A little kit a girl I work with gave to me where it came with the tanks.

Nope. T
hey don't need one, but if you don't have one, you need to change the water in their tank at least twice a week.
They love it warm. Around 75-80 degrees Farenheit.
They don't need the air bubbles either. They are able to get air from the surface.
Enjoy your Betta.
Here's a great website. Check out this stock shop. AMAZING!!
