Yes, i have an Ovation 12 string acoustic/electric and a yamaha ac/elec. i love them both, especially plugged into my Crate bass amp with an external speaker hooked up to enhance the highs. Sounds awesome. Used to have a Takamine but didn't like the way it played.

Yes I have a Fender and it has a nice crisp sound. A real key to this is a good amp and keeping new strings on your guitar.

Yes, I have a Walden acoustic-electric and it's amazing! I love it to death; it plays like butter and sounds spectacular.

Unless you want to play live and need to plug into a p.a., there is no need. I also prefer recording with a microphone, rather then plugging in dirrectly. Built in electronics can rattle and make other noises.
