Hair dye can cause bladder cancer if you dye your hair for many years. Hair dye contains benzene, which is a carcinogen.
Source: My dad just was diagnosed with bladder cancer this spring and had to have his bladder removed. He dyed his hair for 25 years.

I agree--dyes are made from different stuff now, and if the ones today gave you brain tumors, the FDA would pull em from the shelves. They've learned a lot since Jackie's day. But I have heard of people just having bad reactions to dyes. I'd suggest next time she go get it professionally done. She might have just had a reaction to the chemicals. But she isn't going to die from it until she drinks it.

I'm 29 and have dye my hair since i was 14. I dye it every two months, my family has an amazing cancer history (most of them have died because of cancer). If i thought that dying your hair black could cause a tumor, do you think i would dye my hair so often?
Tell your mom not to worry, that what she read ir hared is not true.

the only thing dying your hair will cause, is your hair changing color.
jacky onasis probably had a history of something.
if your mother dyed her hair and her head is stinging and is painful, then she might be allergic, maybe left it on too long (if u leave it on too long, or dye your hair too much too close together, you can get a chemical burn. hair dye is after all a chemical.)
if her scalp is hurting or stinging she should see a doctor right away.
if its not, then she should be ok.

the brain doesn't have any changes because the things that you use on your hair and there is no definite evidence of link between the use of any type of hair dye and bladder cancer, lymphoma, leukemia or myeloma, that are the systems that could be affected by substances in your hair, your mom probably was feeling bad because the odor that the chemicals contains, if she is not using hair dye anymore and she is still feeling weird she should go to the doctor to find the real reason for her symptoms

im sure that brain cancer wont happen 2 her because of hair dye. and if she knew before hand, that lil "factoid" about jackie, why dye it in the 1st place if she had fears of that? alot of hair dye tingles when u use it on ur hair. and maybe for some people, it burns. but that definatly doesnt cause u brain cancer!

the reason she felt stinging is because the black color has alot
of ingredients and amonia. She also could be sensitive to the dye. I have never heard of hair dye giving you cancer in my 32 years of nursing

She died of cancer most likely caused by smoking. Where would you get the idea she died from dying her hair? I would not worry about it.

First of all, your mother is not Jackie Onassis. Secondly, dyes are made from different chemicals now. Lastly, have you ever asked your mother if she is a Hypochondriac?
