Hi! I need to take the CD-rom out of my Optiflex GX150 to install an upgrade, but it seems unwilling to quit! It's a standard-size IDE drive on green plastic guide rails, which I've pulled outwards and pushed inwards without obviously releasing any kind of catch. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

If I recall the GX150 is a grey ish box and when you click the side buttons to open it (desktop version) the lid hinges towards you with the cd drive on the part of the lid that lifts away from the motherboard. There shuold be 2 bits of metal on either side (in green) push them towards the drive, hold them there, and pull. this should bring the cd drive mounting tray out of the case. Then use a good ol fasioned screwdriver to replace the drive on the bay and click it back in..

Here is a pic of one with the case open

towards the camera on the left is the CD Drive, notice the two green tags either side of the CD drive towards the back, these are the things you need to push towards each other before sliding the drive out backwards.

Hope this helps.

The plastic guard rails tend to get stuck if they arent lined up correctly so I would suggest that you squeeze the plastic rails together when you are attempting to take it out because it may make it some what easier.

you can try uninstalling your drive and reinstalling it
go into device manager
right click on my computer
click on manage
click on device manager
expand your cd roms
right click on your burner
click on uninstall
then at the top of the chain in device manager you should see your computer name
right click on that
then click on scan for hardware changes
it should find and reinstall your burner

have you tried to reboot
have you tried to reinstall the driver
