I think there is a chance your keyboard may have a bad key.
The Key with the "window symbol" on it may be shorting sometimes or gets stuck on.
It should normally operate like this. press and hold the "windows key" and the other keys become short cuts. If its stuck or shorted then the other keys are ALWAYS short cut keys.
Hope this helps

It is a indeed a keyboard "shortcut" sticking problem.

Service the keyboard. Demonstrate to the Toshiba service chap the problem right in front of his eyes.

Here is a similar case from the web re a Toshiba laptop and the remedy suggested:

"Some keys on my laptop is malfunctioning, example is when E is press it will open my computer window, when R is press it open Run dialog box, when D is press it will minimise windows. Please, help me to solve this problem.

Reply:

Check the Windows Key, the one between the Ctl and Alt keys on the left and next to the Alt Gr key on the right. It appears to be stuck down.

Well, it seems that you need to clean or replace your keyboard.

I think something sweet was spilled on your keyboard.

When you hit r, e or d a certain Windows funtion is activated, this is because its a quick access created in Windows that functions when you hit the start button with any of these keys. If the shortcuts work without you holding / pressing the start button, this means that its automatically pressed because whats beneath it is not clean and something from underneath is pressing it [dust, or something sticky]

Try using another keyboard and see for yourself...

"I have a serious computer problem?"

superbooks.org ANSWERS:

I'm no computer expert but i've fixed computer problems like that on my own toshiba at times.

The toshiba had XP , and it has a restore program built into the computer.

What I did was SAVE everything I needed to disk OR emailed important docs and pictures to myself.

Then I did this:

Go to START

THEN Click RUN

In there typed RESTORE

Then the box came up with some icons

I CLICKED on the icon that said RSTRUI

THEN box cam e up that said

I want to restor e my computer..

FOllowed SIMPLE instructions ..chose the date to restore computer to (like a month ago)

Then let the computer do it's job

TOOK ten minutes..
computer was restored to NEW...very nice..
working great ..

)))then .other times when that didn t work. MOST times that works..
I just took oriiginal disks of computer and restored by DISK
that restores computer like to the day that you first bought the computer ..BRAND NEW COMPUTER..
amazing ! and it works.
MAIN idea --YOu must save everything to disk first or you will lose all your work ..

so there's my simple solution .. and it doesn't cost you a cent.
no technicians no repair.

That's an idea from superbooks1@yahoo.com

did it work fr you? Let me know

It's easy. That's one of the key in your keyboard has problem.

It's the "windows" key. This key is usually located between left "ctrl" and "alt" key. It has a windows logo on it.

Normally, when you press the key combination of "windows"+"r", that's RUN command, the same situation also happen to:
"windows"+"e"= my computer
"windows"+"d"=shot your pages.

Conclusion, it's definely not a virous. The "windows" key has problem. Perhaps it got stuck, that's why your windows start menu keep poping up and shut down.
