Perhaps the problem is that the marriages are built on weak foundations.

1. Celeb marriages based in reality shows such as MTV's Newlyweds/ Meet The Barkers/ Til death do us part: Carmen & Dave are doomed
2. They (celebs) get married only to get it annulled 52 hours later just to spite an ex. Case in point, the infamous "quickie" Vegas wedding for Miss Spears to get back at Justin Timberlake.
3. It's a publicity stunt. Take the ill-fated union of Lisa Marie Presley/ Michael Jackson, the illusionist David Copperfields' engagement to German supermodel Claudia Schiffer, etc.
But, who cares? Just goes to show that even fairytales don't have happy endings...

I wonder if the divorce rate in Hollywood is similar to the divorce rate elsewhere...It doesn't appear so...and here's my opinion as to why...
- temptation...normal people don't kiss other people as part of their job
- money...They have the money to buy rings, homes and so on...A normal couple plans these things for years, and works hard for them...It's an accomplishment that they share...Also, they get engaged within months of knowing one another, and most of that time is spent on vacations...what happens when they're not on trips?
- Life immitates art... maybe all that acting and singing about love and perfection and happy endings makes them believe that real life marriages are as easy as what they're portraying in films.
-Hectic schedules...Imagine always being away from your partner for long periods of time...that strains a relationship...
- Life goals...when you're acting or singing and you're making all that cash and becoming famous, it's difficult to stay focused on other things...this is where the conflicts start...becoming an oscar worthy actor or having kids? Of course everyone faces such decisions...but it's not to the same intensity...
- having your private life made public...
So that's my opinion on why their marriages fail...
BUT that doesnt apply to all of them...some of them make it work...

I would say that the pressure placed upon celebrity relationships by the paparazzi is just too intense for the relationships to last. If you notice, the less the couple is in the spoltlight, the more success they have as a couple. Its easy to see why of course, because of all the specualtions made by reporters (is she pregnant? hes cheating!) start to assume the worst, (maybe you are the only one who doesnt see it, you are busy afterall) and finally they just cant handle it anymore.

They dont know what love and commitment is. All they know is that marriage is something thay have to do with another celeb, and then they wonder what the hell to do afterwards. Love is not real in hollywood

its all just to look good in the public eye , when they get married..they then quickly learn it was a mistake and they are happier and have everything they want and need without the other person..
