Of course you can, but don't. There are many reasons why you shouldn't do it. But the most important are it is dishonest and it will come back to haunt you. If you get caught they could kick you out of school. And if you get caught later you could get fired from a job. I had to fire someone at Paramount once because of that and even though he was a great worker it didn't matter. It was a really sad thing and bad timing for him as his wife had just gotten pregnant. Honesty is the best policy. And if you feel you have to lie try actually doing the things you want to lied about on the application, then it wont be a lie. :-)

Well, Lie No.
Strech the truth, Maybe.
If we are talking about the actual facts about you... Name, Date of Birth, etc then of course not, because in the end your degree will belong to the false person... that is if you don't get caught.
Although, if we are talking about the essay or opinion questions on the application (what do you do in your spare time?) then I'd say you could bend the truth a little. But going crazy will get you in trouble. It is like a Job application. If you say you know how to program web pages in HTML and JAva, but you only know HTML then you better be able to pick up the Java darn fast if you get the job.
In the end, do so at your own risk... they don't have to give back your money if you lied to them to get in.

You certainly can. You can lie about anything you want, but in the long run..... people find out and see through lies. I would NOT recommend even considering it, colleges and universities take that EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY and you will jeopardize ANY chance of ever attending. In some instances, they may even call it an attempt to defraud their institution and seek punitive damages from you, on top of your ruined reputation. If you need to lie on an application, then its not time for you to go, it would undermine the hard work of the people applying now and who have graduated.

Depends on what you're lying about. Though I was truthful on everything when applying, I could have easily added that I was involved in feeding the homeless, cleaning trash off the beach, and teaching an abstinence class to junior high kids. For extra curricular activities, colleges are most likely not ever going to check up to see if they are real or not. But, grades and classes have to be truthful because they will require grade reports when you send in your application.

Well you could, but I wouldn't think it'd be very smart since you probably will get caught at some point. And wouldn't you just be hurting yourself?
It's kind of like cheating on a test. In the short term, it may feel right but it could come back to bite you on the a--.

Can you? yes. Should you? no.
If you get caught, kiss your future at that school goodbye. It's just as bad as turning in a paper that you did not write. Plus, if you have to lie just to get accepted, then you might be setting yourself up for failure if you go to a school that you are not really qualified or adequately prepared to attend.

well not really but yes....i would say the only place where you can lie is in your "school activities and clubs" section....i know tons of people who listed a bunch of clubs on their college applications but never actually took part in the clubs.

Yeah as long as it's not something huge like community service or what your grades where. Basically if there is no way of them checking up on it then who cares.
One of my sisters friends is like 1% American Indian but she put down 50% and got into Cal Berkely because of it.
