I have noticed many plants growing around my house which produce small, circular berries with varied colors. I was looking on the internet and thought it was maybe deadly nightshade, but I found a map of the range of deadly nightshade and it says they don't live in hio. This plant grows beside wood piles and buildings. Does anybody know what this is?

It sounds like a nightshade family plant. There are many different kinds, most of them poisonous. You will need to post a photo for anyone to be more specific than that.

I'm sure that it is a Nightshade .. there are many types .... But they all tend to grow in areas like that you suggest .... Here is a link to a
Nighttshade site .. You can click on the links there to view different plants . I would make an effort to remove them anyway , as they all are poisonous to some degree , the berries especially ... Just start ripping them out , trying to get the roots if possible , and put them in trash bags for disposal... Don't compost or burn them ....
( did you know that they are related to the potato , as well as the tomato ?? ) Good Luck ...

Can't really tell without seeing a picture, but I can tell you that the different colors of berries are simply the stages that the berries go through. Green berries are very young, orange slightly older, red berries are ripe and ready to fall on the ground to produce more plants. It's just the ripeness of the berries!

Can you post a picture?

get a picture of it and supply a link. I have pokeweed growing like mad all over my property and its deadly. It gets really big with shiny dark green leaves. The berries start out small and white, turn green when larger and purple when mature. The berries will kill a small child if ingested.

It would really help if you could give some kind of description of the shape of the leaves. Is it a weedy looking plant? A shrub? A vine? Could it be bittersweet or pyracantha?
