I suppose it would depend on what you mean by "racial profiling."
In the event that law enforcement are looking for a suspect that was seen by a witness, you look for people fitting that description, including race. You can't expect the police to be stopping people of one race when the suspect is of another race any more than you'd stop a person in a wheelchair when the suspect fled on foot. It'd be idiotic and make life much more dangerous.
If, however, you are talking about keeping a closer eye on people of a particular race before any crime has been committed in hopes of thwarting said crime, it becomes a bit of a sticky issue. I personally think that inconviencing members of a particular race when boarding a plane is on the same level as inconviencing people when looking for a suspect.
For example, if a white male of my height and weight is a suspect in a crime that occurred nearby, the fact that I was stopped by the police wouldn't be a problem - they're just doing their jobs. If I fit the description, fine. I think we can all agree that this is a logical point of discussion.
In an airport situation where they are trying to prevent the deaths of hundreds before it happens (as you can't convict people who die in the explosion), I believe this follows under the same category. The only difference is that the crime hasn't occurred. The job of airport security is to prevent that crime. Ergo, it makes sense.
Furthermore, I've yet to hear of an individual being hassled by airport security - it's more common for an unusually large group of people that they watch more carefully. Any indignation they feel for being carefully monitored should be offset by the fact that they can be assured that, due to the efforts of many individuals, they will arrive safely at their destination.

airports these days...
cops are trained to profile, but when the profile is Arabs between the age of 17 and 35 it is horrible!!!...bull spit
if it was skin heads blowing up spit u think any one would care if a cop stopped all the buzzed cut-ted white guys, come on, its not racist, its profiling, and it is tough to every one of us...
if some 1 steels your shoes you are going to look for some one with the same shoes right?...well when a bunch of Arab men between the age of 17 and 35 start blowing up shite that's what we should be looking for...it is ridiculous that there is such a big deal with it

All identification is paramount to identify suspects and convicted felons, including released rapists and pedophiles. Fewer mistakes are made that way.

Please list the number of planes taken down by:
-people in wheelchairs
- people over 65
- children
Now tell me how many were taken down by middle eastern males between the ages of 18- 25.
Why shouldn't we ethnically profile?

Hunting down terrorists. We know who they are, why wouldn't we profile?
When there is a bank robbery caught on tape and we see the robber, we look for THAT guy. We don't look for EVERYONE!
It is silly to be politically correct, just for its own sake.

Really if we KNOW that 90% of people who blow up planes are Arabs why not search Arabs a tiny bit better?
