In company, I cann't browse the Internet, but I need to check a lot of background information from Wikipedia. Is there a downloadable version of English Wikipedia.

Since the whole encyclopedia must be huge in size, i hope the downloadable version would remove the media files including images.

Thanx.

3 things to keep in mind:

1) Yes, it *is* huge, even if you leave the images out.

2) If you download it, you get a static snapshot, which is exactly what Wikipedia *isn't* about. You don't get updates and corrections made to the snapshot.

3) Wikipedia is *not* a good choice for background fact checking for a company, precisely because it's updated by *everybody*. Your boss would likely be *very* mad at you if you relied on an article written by an employee of your competition. Look around, you'll find "disputed" articles. Those are the ones that somebody has *noticed* that there's odd material in it.

You'd be far better off getting your company to get you Internet access so you can do the job *right*.
