Sounds like a starter issue or a lose cable .

check that cables are clean and tight even on the starter. If all cables and wires are good and tight it could be key switch, starter, or neutral safety switch or maybe a fuse. you need some one that knows electrical systems to check it out. Let us know how it comes out.

Since you have new cables, can I assume you cleaned the ground connection to the frame?
A bad ground could be your problem
