If you live at an oasis you will have a plentiful supply of water, figs and if you have some money you can buy other foodstuffs from merchants who stop to water on route thru the desert. There are many townships in deserts albeit on the fringes.
If you are stuck in the middle of a desert then you would die of dehydration first as 3 days is the maximum survival time without water whereas u can go weeks without food.

Ok, this is a trick question. Its impossible to starve in the desert because:- you would die of thirst or exposure long before starvation got you.
People have been known to survive for 30 - 60 days with out food (earthquake victims), and its even possible to survive up to 90 days without food.
Human beings can't live without water or more importantly salts contained in the water, for more than 3 days - by then you're so dehydrated, skin and eye tissues have shrunk followed by multiple organ failure, starting with the kidneys. Not a nice way to go.
Am i right?

Because you would die of dehydration first, you need water to survive, you can live without food for a very long time, but in the conditions of a desert, you need water, and without it you would die very quickly

There is saying I once heard that roughly called the rule of 5. It says that generally a person can die after 5 minutes without air, 5 days without water, and 50 days without food.

Because If you have no water you will die from dehydratation (max 2 days) than from starving (which will dake you about a week...) :D.

It's not. You can starve yourself anywhere, all you have to do is not eat, but continue drinking, don't get run over etc.

It's because the dehydration need most first than hunger, it leads thirst first before hunger.
