why is the canadian womens soccer team so good and our men for lack of a better word, are ****?

Are you better than any of our national players ?? Whether they are good or not in comparison to other nations, they do not deserve to be disrespected with a question and comment like the ones you have posted. We aren't by any means a traditional soccer nation, and there isn't a serious drive in us to be one. We don't invest enough in our development programs and until there is a professional league where the players make decent cash, all of our top prospects will have to find full time jobs and soccer becomes less and less a priority for them. I see so many amazing soccer players here but we just don't have the infrastructure for them to succeed as players and to help build a strong national team. If we did, the rest of the world should keep their heads up, we would have the skill and the good old Canadian grit to crush the delicate fairy teams from opposing nations. The women win because they intimidate other team with their natural Canadian toughness.

Well, no NASL. Back then Cdn soccer players had competition right here in Canada and in the US such that we qualified for the 1986 WC Finals.
Anyhoo, who cares? Soccer blows right now. It's slow, boring, no action, diving and virtually no goals. Canada was decent back when soccer was exciting not in the boring '00s.
