The value depends on the level of restoration. It could take as much as $40,000 to fully restore it to like new condition. I suggest you find someone in your area to look at it before doing any serious work to it. Get some estimates for all the repairs before doing any of them.

Then with the estimates in hand decide what you want to do. This is a desirable antique collector car. It will have a considerable worth when restored. Do all your homework first, before doing anything else.

Get more than 1 estimate for everything, you get the best price for the best job that way. Get catalogs for the needed parts, Hemmings would be a good start, then search on-line from the Hemmings results.

I've spent 35 years in the high end luxury and sports car body body shop business. So heed every word of my advice. Keep the car stored inside if at all possible, this will prevent most of the further deterioration damage.

Good luck with your new hobby! I hope it works out for you! I wish someone would give me a sprite ! I envy you and your good fortune!

Your question mdoesn't have a conrete answer other than "Yes it will be worth something." How much is hard to determine before the restoration is done. Do you like the look of the Sprite? Then it may be worth checking around for parts info and figuring what this restoration will cost to complete. Then, you will at least know if you are interested enough to follow through and restore. If you are doing the labour, it will save a lot of money BUT if you do things hastily or improperly, then the car won't have the kind of value that a professional restoration would bring. If you're just considering the restoration because you want to make some money on this car then just sell it - you were given it and it would probably sell well on ebay or in the classifieds to someone who is interested in doing the restoration.

I think that with a very good restoration, it might get a good value. HOWEVER, as with almost all automotive restoration projects, the money and time spent in the process, is by far more than the final value of the completed car. I'd say that restoring a car is more about passion than about monetary gain, mainly because there is seldom any money to be made.

An Austin Healy? Man! Those little roadsters are simply gorgeous!

It's a classic car and always worth restoring. Provided it's in pretty good shape to begin with.
Sounds like it must be, being out of the weather all that time.
Lots will have to be done, to get it up and running, so you need a good mechanic to give it a thorough going over first.
Then get the costs of the restoration, and if you are keeping it for yourself, make that decision.
If you are selling it, find out the prices, that they are selling for. That should be fairly easy on the Internet, lots of sites, deal with classic cars.
Sounds like you got yourself a winner, good luck wth it.

The "bugeye" sprites were Very popular in the '60s, and I'm sure it would sell very quickly if you advertised it.

You may have a lot of headaches trying to restore it yourself. If you are REAL handy with a wrench, GO FOR IT.

Another popular car in that era was the Sunbeam Tiger with the small block Ford V8.

it may or may not be a colectible, but any convertible that old can be worth quite a bit to the right person. on a good note, my dad had the same model but a few years older i beleve, and it was worth quite a bit after being restored. it would be a nice show car as well.

Sweet ride, I would do it! Better yet restore the car and if you don't like it or think it's worth anything just give it to me!

Of course... but research what it will take first. It may cost just as much or more to restore it to original condition. So it may have more sentimental value than monetary by the time you are finished!

I would restore it! I don't know how much it would be worth, but it's a '69 Austin Healy - you gotta do it. If you don't want to, give it to me!
