No. For light scratches, try toothpaste and a soft cloth. If you can, buy the non-gel type. Then, follow that up with the polish. Works like a charm!

If the scratches are light, then yes. But polish can only remove so much before it rubs through the paint's clear coat--which is something you want to avoid at all costs.
Be sure to use high-quality products, and go from coarsest to finest-grade polish as you go. Always prep the paint by washing the car and using paint cleaning clay to remove any deep-set contaminants. There are two companies (Mother's and Griot's Garage) that have excellent orbital polishing kits, but most polishing is done by hand with microfiber towels and lots of man hours.
Polishing may remove some of the scratches and swirls, but it is wax that makes paint appear to be like new. Be sure to get a high-quality carnauba wax to make

If the scratches are not down to the metal, go to an auto parts store and get a polishing compund. Follow the directions and the scratches should be minimized. If that doesn't do it, get the car polish that guarantees to match any color and use that afterwards.

Polish will remove "swirls" or "spider webs" only. If the scratch is white, grey or down to metal there is little you can do but bring it to an auto body shop or touch it up yourself.

car polish will remove ultra fine scratches by blending them into the clearcoat. heaver scratches will still be visible upon closer inspection, but the white ugly scratch will be erased. for your sake, i hope you just have dust scratches, polish will abolish them forever
