My sister did a project on bad breath, what causes it, and what stops it, comparing different sprays, mints and whatnot. I think she won her school fair and went on to compete in the regional level. It was a while ago, but sticks out in my mind. I'm sure there are new products out now since then, so would be interesting to do a similar project again. Good luck.

my friend and I did a project on the affects of runoff on different types of soil, back in my schooldays. It won us 2nd place out of 500 entries.

it seems like magnetics are always something good, you could try doing something on natural magnets fouled, like the ore metals found in some caves, they have slight magnetic charges, u could study that and test to see y some materials are more magnetic in nature
