Here in Australia it has worked and worked well, with one exception - that is the Muslim community.

They put their religion before the law of the land and I find this unacceptable.

If I was to live in another country, no matter what religion I was, the law of the land is for the benefit of the country and I would abide by that.

Also, if I was to visit an Islamic country, I would cover my head, not wear revealing clothes and abide by their laws.

Why cant they abide by our laws, our culture, etc., and if they choose not to - send them home to their own country, no matter what their circumstances are back home, just give them the choice, then its up to them.

I'm 100% with you there. I think multiculturism is great and interesting, but those who can't accept the law should not be allowed to join.

The problem you describe is the same almost everywhere. Multiculturism seems to work fine all over the globe, but always with a nasty exception of the muslim community. Look all over Europe, there where there are troubles it's with muslims. Even in safe places like Singapore and Japan there are sometimes problems with muslims.

There are undoubtedly nice people among them, but there seems to be a problem in the way they raise their kids. Too many young muslims have no concept of accepting authority and grossly lack respect of others. I fully agree that those who can't adjust should be kicked out. They cause too much trouble to stick to the soft approach.

I wish multiculturalism could work because I think there's too much hate and intolerance in the world. However, I think that realistically multiculturalism has been shown to be a failure all over the world.

Look at the parts of the world that are in the midst of strife and civil war: Bosnia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, Israel's West Bank, Sri Lanka, Bolivia. All of these have considerable "diversity" and in each of them the groups are at war with each other. Even in nations like France which is overwhelmingly French and nominally Catholic, they've experienced some of the worst civil strife ever in the form of mass rioting by their substantial Muslim minority.

Now look at countries that are the most peaceful: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland to name a few. They are all homogenous countries. Multiculturalism almost universally brings strife with it in direct proportion to the amount of multiculturalism.

I think that you are mixing metaphores (so to speak). Culture and Religion and Societies Morals are not the same thing. It is good to be multicultural when it brings your differences as positives to a group. Religion is often where we can find cultureal differences, but not the only place. My personal opinion is that I would rather have a religion that preached honesty, happiness and love for each other than one that preached dishonesty except between initiated individuals, the fact that you can not choose your life circumstances and hatred. Societies morals are for the society and are usually a group of laws (be they islamic or otherwise) that keeps the multiculturalism and religion from running the way we deal with each other. Seperation of church and state are as important as the freedom to choose.

I know what you mean. Where i live it is multicultural. There is a heavy asian population. It works and the muslims dont seem to be a problem here. Here it is the blacks that shakes the comunity. Most crime is commited by them and they are one of the smallest minority groups!
