alright, the jumper and 3 pointer are very different mechanically. but before i go into anything, u gotta understand that almost every ball player has their own style/ technique, so anything somebody says to answer your question is just a suggestion. the 2 main keys to shooting are to be comfortable in what you're doing, and to remain fluid throughout the process.
with a jumper, theres more than one universal technique. theres the free throw method, and the method where ur shoulders are squared. the free throw method is when setting up for the shot, you point your right foot towards the basket, and the ball is released from over the shoulder rather than in front of the face. this is an excellent method if u want to get natural, unforced arc under the ball, bc when u release the ball, your arm is fully extended up and outward (also, always remember to flick the wrist to put the appropriate spin on the ball). also, coaches argue about this, but when shooting, if your foot is lined u properly, and u bring the ball right over your shoulder, you technically can use just one hand to release. practice just standing and bringing the ball over the shoulder, lining up the foot, and releasing with one hand. obviously, youre not going to do this in a game, but if u can do it with one, u can do it with two. the left hand (by the way, this is all assuming ur a righty) is used to just secure the ball into the hand thats pushing it forward, so clearly if ur one the move, jump quick, or are covered, u want to jump high, bring the left hand directly to the inside of the ball, and release by pushing up and out. keep your right elbow in, and your left one at about a 45 degree angle. that should give u the idea of where to hold the ball before release.
peace- sam

for me,
shooting a 3 pointer is quite different then when i'm doing a jumper.
for jumper, i'll jump then i shoot after i reached the highest point of my jump.
with 3 pointer, i shoot and jump at almost the same time.
everyone has their own technique. i dont have arm as strong as a profesional athlete, that's the reason i can't do jump shoot for a 3 pointer.
keep practising, and find the best technique for yourself.
the thing that you should keep in your mind when shooting (regardless a jumper or a 3 pointer), keep your elbow lock !!
good luck in your training !

You got to have good aim and everything, but the secret is to aim at the square and never put the ball in front of your eyes. How will you be able to see wear your aiming and don't put it above your head. Just put the ball right below your nose and aim at the square and swish you made a 3 point jumper. Hope this helps!

for the three pointer aim towards the basket with your feet and with your arm with the ball making an L, you need to bend your legs and shoot with the arm following through with the ball and flicking your wrist at the same time.
For the jumper, you need to aim towards the basket with your body and jump into the air. Shoot with the same L, and follow through with your arm by flicking the wrist and extending the arm.
