I'm having a birthday/going away party in about a month with my group of friends. We are all in our mid to late 20's. All our major parties are themed (please no negative comments). I have finally narrowed down my ideas to a few choices but I'm having a hard time deciding which one to choose thus coming here and trying to get opinions. Please state which theme you think is the best and if you have any ideas as how to expand on that (i.e. food, costumes, decorations, games) please do tell. I am not looking for other themes not listed and any rude, crude or abusive answers will be reported. Thank you.

The themes:

1. A 60's theme. Think the artist Shag (if you don't know who he is look it up) and Austin Powers

2. A 50's theme. Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, rockabilly, greasers, poodle skirts, ect.

3. A black and white party

4. A heaven and hell party

5. A pirate party.

The last three are pretty self explanatory but ideas are still welcome.

Yahoo answers is filled with moronic people that apparantly don't know how to read. It's a wonder they know how to type or work a computer.

Ok, so 50's it is. Some of you had great ideas and I really appreciate it. It was really hard choosing the best anser and I wish I could choose more than one. Some of you however are illiterate idiots.

Heaven and hell would be cool, you could actually decorate each half of the room in one or the other. (like cross from heaven into hell) You could have people sign in at the Book of Life. Lots of red and orange on hell side, white and fluffy clouds on heaven. Heaven foods could be bite size cheesecakes, fruit with fruit dip (marshmallow cream and creamcheese mixed together) think lighter, white foods. on the hell side you could have chips and salsa, hot wings, spicy foods. and if you have people dress up, it would be kinda cool to dress up as a sexy angel or devil. No matter what theme you go with they all sound like they would be fun. Now when should i expect my invite?

I think the 60's party sounds great. Maybe you could find some precorded "laugh in" music that freezes and everyone has to periodically stop and freeze. The costumes could easily be pieced together from things your guests already have in their closet. You could incorporate the late 60's hippie theme and decorate cheaply with beads in the doorways, etc. Sounds like fun.

I love the 50's party idea. It would be fun to set it up like a drive in, show Grease projected onto your garage door or something. Have a concessions stand/bar area. You and your boyfriend (?) could dress up as Sandy and Danny. You could be good Sandy or bad Sandy,( I think bad Sandy is more fun!)
Or just dancing to 50's and rockabilly music would be really fun too.
Don't do Pirates, they are going to be OVERDONE this year!

i like the idea of the heaven and hell party that sounds like fun, but judging from your picture the 50's theme might be more you style. You remind me a little of Bettie Page. Have fun!!!!

What about a P party, where everyone has to dress up as something starting with P eg Priest, princess, pinata, prostitute, pirate, the list goes on.

#2, you could have a lot of fun with the food and drinks, find a '50's cookbook and drink guide, and the clothes, music, whatnot would be great. You could even do psychobilly, and it could be all '50's zombies...
