Hamsters feed on seeds, fruit, vegetables and some insects.
Dairy products should never be fed to hamsters. Also chocolate should be avoided at all costs.

Basically anything processed and full of additives, fats, colorings, etc. Feed them a healthy food, and give them a bit of cheerios (NOT the frosted kind, nothing with sugar), etc. A bit of fruit like strawberry or grape, a bit of carrot, or the occassional dog biscuit. Don't over do it though, you don't want to harm your pet :)

potatoes, any part, and tomatoe vines and leaves, the fruit is OK, just cut the core out to be safe. These two plants are part of the nightshade family and are very poisonous for small animals.

I have always been told by my vet (although I have a rat) not to give it any meat or sweets.
