The other posters were right, MI6 is like the CIA. There is also MI5, which is like the FBI/Homeland Security. Check out the TV show Spooks about the MI5.

Scotland Yard is the London Police HQ, now called New Scotland Yard. Why isn't it in Scotland? It got it's name because it was originally located in the spot that used to be the 'yard' of the Scottish Embassy.

MI6 is like the CIA, Scotland Yard is the police force of London (kinda like the NYPD is to New York).

Edit: Don't answer a question if you don't know what you are talking about (Scotland Yard is not the equivalent to the FBI)

I believe M16 is the special ops/anti-terrorism group, and Scotland Yard is more like the police or the FBI.

Unfortuantely the US is set-up differently. The FBI, CIA, NSA, Secret Service and Dept. of Homeland Security as well as ICE cover many of the same things depending on what you are talking about. It is just not set up the same. Hope this helps.

M16 is similar to CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency. Scotland Yard is similar to FBI.

not sure, but I think maybe a very crude comparison would be MI6=CIA, and Scotland yard =FBI
