Aside from the boots issue, I think it's all about posture.

Consider, that Superman is from Krypton, a planet whose gravity is much higher than Earth's....So much so that he can reliably leap over tall buildings in a single bound.

As someone who as done some yoga, what this tells me is that as Superman, the guy clearly doesn't *let* gravity put as much of a curve on his spine as he does as Clark Kent. Seriously....if you have ever had someone measure the length of your *own* spine while you've bent over and touched your toes, you'd know that it can be anywhere from 2-4 inches *longer* without those pesky cranial-sacral and cervical curves to deal with (flattening out the lumbar, or the largest curve of the lower back, isn't healthy, since it is the only spinal curve healthy babies are *born with*).

But yeah, in this case, what we have here is that when Superman decides to stand up straight, he stands up straight as a board at the spinal level because the gravity is weaker than *lunar* gravity to him, and allows this, where as Clark he has to hunch a bit and fit in with everyone else....

Where does it say that Superman is 6'1 and Clark Kent is only 5'11? Honestly 6'1 seems too short for the Man of Steel. I thought he was 6'3.

He has lifts in his shoes. Clark also slouches, as he is very self-conscious.
