At the rate of population increase, how many years before people start dying of true food shortage?

I say true because the shortages in Africa aren't caused by too many people, they are caused by drought and civil war. I give it 50 years at most before every acre of arable land is used, and then the great grain wars begin. Carrying Capicity isn't far off.
