It should because it says up to 12 and up to 16 so they can both equalize themselves to 12x.

The blank disc can say anything - x12 or x16 or x24 or even upto x48....but he deciding factor will be the burning speed of the drive.

So even if you select the command "Burn at x16 speed" the drive will automatically respond "not possible - burning will be done at x12"

So there is nothing to worry!

Yes, your blank will work. As long as the media is better than the drive, you are okay. You could still use a 4x blank as long as you slowed the recording down to 4x.

Yes, if your media is rated at a higher speed than the drive you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes because your dvd drive burns slower than you disk could go. Its perfectly fine. (i could go into details but that would get confuseing)
