I think that 40 is still quite young in our society, so I would follow some younger person styles. I wouldn't wear the thin t-shirts and really low cut ripped jeans that your daughter may wear, but I wouldn't wear Sag Harbor either.
Aim to wear stylish, yet timeless pieces, and buy things that are flattering and will last several years. I like the brand INC for women your age, it is youthful and pretty without looking cheap or slutty like a lot of teen clothing does.
Please don't wear clothing covered in pet hair, and make an attempt to look nice at least twice a week. I helped to make over my mom after she lost weight, and she is so much more confident in pretty, expensive looking clothing, even if we found them second hand. Dress like you are gorgeous, and people will believe it.

Well, at 41, you should only be focusing on showing one great part of your body off, per outfit.
So if you have great legs, you can wear a shorter skirt, but cover up the chest, tummy, arms, etc.
And if you have big boobs, you can show them off, but cover up the rest of your body.
As we get older, we have to stop showing off as much.. for obvious reasons, lol... We just arent 18 anymore.. but oh do I miss those days lol
You can still wear the newest styles, just remember that youre not as young as you feel, in reality, and you do need to command a certain amount of respect and dignity, at work and with your daughter.
So, if you go buy abercrombie jeans, just make sure they arent overly holey, and they dont show your underwear, dont go all super high heels with it, and cover your belly up with a cute top. On top of that, wear a blazer or jacket that screams "I am a professional."
rather than "I am having a mid life crisis", lol.
There are also certain rules, once youre over 40. No daisey dukes, no micro mini skirts, (minis are okay, as long as theyre not super short) and never ever show off your legs and your belly all at the same time.
You should watch the Tyra Banks show, and keep an eye on how she dresses. You could also pick up US weekly, and other cheapie magazines, and take a look at what the 40 somethings in hollywood wear.
Tyra Banks is my age 29, and she dresses exactly the way I think anyone 30 and up should. Conservatively enough, but still trendy, and still showing off her curves!
=)
Good Luck!

Dress your age. There are really pretty, and modern hip styles for women in their 40's that look sexy, stylish and classy. Avoid trying to look like you are 20 again - hence short skirts and tight tight pants and shirts, these will only make you look older. Instead opt for styles that are classy and sexy, just keep in mind when you are shopping the age appropriateness of the clothes you are trying on which will actually make you look younger.
And don't worry so much. If you are comfortable you will be confident and that is what matters.

I am older than you.I'm 46.You should dress your age, which is not dressing matronly. There is nothing quite as unattractive as "mutton dressed as lamb," an older person dressing too young.Dressing your age means not following trends slavishly(no wearing head to- toe -trends,but just one trendy piece). It means not wearing too- tight,or too-loose clothing;not showing too much cleavage or leg(skirt and dress length can come to the knee(top) but not be shorter. You don't have to be overly-covered up,though.Check out More Magazine for some tips.Vogue magazine also does age-dressing issues;these magazines can give you a clue;you don't have to buy the brands they show, just find similar articles of clothing from stores you like. And stay away from pleated,high-wasted skirts and pants;these items of clothing do make you look matronly.

No. My brothers have the two grew to become out superb ;) My 5y/o brother has 2 older sisters at dwelling house continually dressing him up, yet he's superb. He humours them, gets the stupid pictures taken, and strikes on. He then chases them around the backyard with a hose or a cap gun for revenge. And so the cycle of brothers and sisters keeps. what's the super deal? that is in basic terms young infants being young infants. don't be certainly one of these prat. I painted my brother's nails each and all of the time, LOL. I even positioned makeup on him while i substitute right into a young person. We took pictures and he nonetheless likes giggling at them. In fairness, he did make an exceptionally particularly female!

I am in my mid 30s and I, like you, I dress in younger styles. I feel good wearing clothes that are cute and flirty. I hate to wear "mom" clothes. I always feel bad. I just wear clothes that make me feel good.

You seem to have a nice funky/fresh personality, you could try out Vintage style with some Modern flare to it. It also depends on what your body type is and what you are comfortable wearing. Try this website:
