the students and talk to the crazy boy? Was the man who went inside the school the kid Luke's dad or was that the dad of the boy who was the gunman??? I don't understand why after the boy shot himself, the man in the suit picked up the gun and shot the man who was trying to save him.

Dan was jealous of his baby brother, Keith, because he was engaged to Karen. Karen was Dan's girl way back in college and had a baby, Lucas, by him. Now Keith was going to be a father to Luke and Dan couldn't take it. Dan is the villain of Tree Hill. Jimmy killing himself gave Dan the perfect opportunity to get rid of Keith once and for all, with no witnesses. In episodes after this one Dan sees Keith's ghost many times.

I am so glad you asked this question. I watched it last night and did not understand why he did that either? Did they go to school together when they were younger or something? What was the tie in?
