How smart was the move to not pit at the end of the race. I know that he didn't have fresh tires and because of that slipped down to 6th but considering he was running around 20th the whole race 6th is awesome and it put him back in the chase.

Your right it was great strategy to stay out last week.By staying out he went from twenty ninth to second on the restart and was able to hold on for a sixth place finish Yea.This also moved him up to tenth in the points and back into the chase yea again.Dale Jr is one of my favorites I really want to see him make the chase,he was doing so good before he had those back to back forty third place finishes. It would be really bad if he missed it two years in a row.For Dale Jr to have any hope of winning a title be it this year or in the future I think D.E.I. is really going to have to step it up a notch or two.I just don't think they are at the same level as the top tier teams, ( Joe Gibbs,Hendricks,Rousch ) I find this somewhat puzzling because in 2003 DEI was as strong as any of em.In 2003 Junior ran up front and was a threat to win every week and I think he won five races. To me he hasn't quite been the same driver since he got burned I hope he and his team can get all the bugs worked out so we can see him be a contender every week again I hate to see him struggle like he has for the last couple of years.

That was a really smart move by his crew chief Tony Eury Jr. to get Junior and the Budweiser #8 back into the Chase. I was so excited to see that he finished 6th after I was watching it earlier and he was like in 20th place! Go junior!

Yeah!!! He was very smart. I wish Gordon would have done that. I am glad he got a top 10 he deserves it. Every race he starts in the back and drives his way forward. He has been unlucky with his car lately but maybe this is a turning point for him. He is a great driver!

He needs to do more of that. Although I like the 48 car, I respect Dale. He just isnt the driver his ole man was though - not aggressive enough, although NASCAR has put the clamps down on rubbin & racing. He needs to leave DEI, go to Childress and race the #3 car.

It was a great move! I'm not a Jr. fan, but my fiance was all smiles, Jr. needed that finish!

It was a good call by Tony Jr. So, heck yeah they were smart! :) I know, he's 10th in points now, just hopefully he has a better car this weekend at Watkins Glen.

GO #8!

I totally agree with you. I think they employed great strategy. I really want to see him in the chase. I was so depressed over it last season. He is my favorite driver.

It wasn't jr who made the call it was his crew chief. I wanted to see great things from jr. But he's become the next Kyle Petty, a second generation driver thats driving around in their legend fathers exhaust fumes. Jr is just living on his father's name. To be a true champion it takes nerve, guts and the will to win and jr is lacking all that. Hell his sister is the better racer. She has what it takes. Jr does not.
