In my first marriage, my husband and I rented an old house in rural ohio. My husband was gone all the time, so, it was just my young son and me at home most of the time. I would be sitting in the living room and would keep seeing a bright figure out of the side of my right eye. When I would turn to look straight on at it, it would disappear. I thought it was just my imagination playing tricks, but I would continue to see this figure night after night. Then one night I was watching TV, when the lamp on the mantle of the fireplace actually clicked off and on. Another time my friend and I were in my kitchen, when the light switch moved up and down, turning the overhead light off then on, of course, no one we could see was doing any of these things. My brother-in-law spent the night after a big party and told us the next morning that our house was haunted and he couldn't sleep. He said he heard what sounded like someone walking on crushed pop cans all night long, we didn't hear anything. These things always made me nervous, but didn't actually scare me. I believe it was a poltergeist which usually haunts teenage girls, but since I was in my early 20's it thought I was young enough I guess. I believe as well, that I did have a poltergeist as a teenager, that always hid things from me, rattled the silverware at night, made howling noises outside my bedroom window, no one else in my family ever heard these noises. Perhaps my poltergeist followed me to my house when I was married, who knows. I'm older now, (alot) and my poltergeist has been gone for years, but it would be nice to hear from her/him again. No, I'm not crazy, just very opened minded, and believe anything is possible.

This is actually a true story. My great-grandfather died in the oil fields in southern Illinois. He had been checking one of the pumping stations, and got caught on a wheel. He was beaten to death. My great-grandmother found his mangled body, and the sight of it drover her insane. My grandmother was her oldest child, so she took in her younger brothers and sister. About three years later, my great-grandmother was wandering about the house, trying to find the kitchen. She couldn't, so she went into the bedroom, sat on the bed, and started crying. When she did, the door opened, and my great-grandfather walked in. He told her, "Lefvonia, get up--you have three kids to raise," and walked back out. From that day on, she was OK. She told me the story herself.
