Yes, I believe that minorities and women can serve as presidents and that they can do great jobs. In fact, I hope to see plenty of minorities and women in office in my lifetime. However, I would not vote for Condi Rice or Hillary Clinton, for that matter, because I don't agree with their politics. I think I would vote for Barack Obama if he were to ever run.

Ever? Yes.

Why? Most people don't really care about the color of a candidate's skin.

Right now, I'd have to say SoS Dr. Rice gets an A-. Former SoS General Powell would rate a B+.

No one on the D side has the experience needed, though a few might in 2012 or 2016.

Sure, I think an African-American could serve as President. I don't know about in the next ten years or so, but I figure it eventually has to happen. Eventually people will come around.

I think the ideal candidate is Colin Powell. Seriously, people love this guy (I'm including myself in that list). He has the military credentials that people love in a president, but he is reluctant to go to war unless absolutely necessary, so anti-war people wouldn't be scared away from voting for him. People see him as someone who is intelligent and thoughtful, and they see him as having integrity. He certainly has experience in international politics, since he was Secretary of State.

Come to think of it, if he was running for President this year, I'd vote for him. I wish he'd agree to run!

Absolutely. A person of any color can serve as president. As far as the A+ candidate, its hard to say. I just think it should be someone unlike Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. They would need to be more outspoken on things other than just african american issues. Be proud of thier race but dont let that affect thier judgement too much. We are a nation of all colors not just black so they need to keep that in mind. That is just the best way I could put it without sounding racist or whatever you want to call it

Yes, but I don't know of any outstanding candidates right at the moment. Come to think of it, there aren't any outstanding white candidates either. I guess the next president is just going suck.

And to the person who suggested Jesse Jackson above, you're joking, right?

Given the current state of racial tension in this country, I don't for see that happening any time in the near future. An african-american president would surely be targeted for assassination.

Of course, he/she could actually change this messed up good Ole boys club. I personally think Colman Powell is the best candidate, because he has honor and this was displayed by him stepping down from Bush's messed up and deceitful Requiem.

Yes an African American could serve as president. I don't know who because I haven't met all black people. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to. I know for sure you wouldn't be able to.

Of course an African-American can be president! Obama would be terrific. NO on Powell and on Rice. Deval Patrick in Massachusetts will be talked about if he wins for governor. And Harold Ford in Tennessee, if he wins for Senate.

Since Colin Powell pretty much screwed the pooch with the whole WMD song and dance, I'd say Dennis Rodman's probably next in line.
