the universe does end. in big bang theory, the cosmos is getting biger and biger. and one day the gravity will take over that movement and the cosmos begin to get smaller and one day, it crash and every thing will be destroy.

The universe ends. Everything in the world we live in is finite.

If the Big Bang Theory is correct then there is no way for an infinite universe to result in one event. There was only so much energy that was released in the Big Bang and thats all the energy there will ever be.

Most scientists believe there is a protective membrane around the universe and that our universe is floating with a bunch of other parallel universes. kind of like the bubbles in a bubble bath.

Scientists believe that when two universes collide the energy realeased in the collision create another but perhaps smaller universe.

It's only a guess...but many theories exist on the subject.

The universe is supposed to have spatial boundary according to the standard Big Bang model...but actually this model explain only 30% of what we observe

Another model suggests that the universe is kind of an infinite loop.

The other important theory, the string theory, suggests the universe has not only 4 dimensions (3 spatial + time), but 10 (some said 11) that could give more explantions. This model is not supported by the majority of the scientifics...but it gains more and more adepts.

This is my own thing with the Universe. First you have to know what we think of as space. Space could commonly be understood in relation to two objects or distance from one point of an object to the other side. Now we know there is a set amount of matter in the universe and that it is contained in a certain amount of space. We know htis becuase if the universe was infinite and the matter within it was infinite, the night sky would be complete white becuase there would inevitably be a star somewhere in every direction. Ok, so if the containment of matter ends at a certain point, space would end at that point. Going back to what space is, if you try to put space to something beyond the point of which there is no matter, it doenst work. There is no point at which to compare that last point of matter to. So according to my own theory, the universe ends where the spread of matter ends.

The universe, according to current calculations taking into account the rate of expansion and critical density, seems to expand forever into infinity. The critical density is the amount required for the universe to start contracting and eventually end. They don't. That's just the most popular answer. I think it just goes on and on.

As Wikipedia puts it (today): "In cosmological terms, the universe is thought to be a finite or infinite space-time continuum ...."

Notice that little waffle there? Later it says "There is disagreement over whether the universe is indeed finite or infinite in spatial extent."

It also says that "The present distance ... to the edge of the observable universe ... is estimated to be about 78 billion light years."

Whoofta. That's just the visible part. How to wrap your head around THAT?

See why it's smart to get into REAL ESTATE? Somebody has to PWN all that!

The universe seems to be between 160 and 180 billion light
years wide according to best current estimates, theory & thought.
I suppose that until someone gets out there and has a first hand
look at the edge, we just can't be sure...
Your question was not real clear..
Is that what you were asking ?

Like a lot of science, the theory about an infinite universe is based on a combination of scientific fact and the absence of evidence to the contrary. There are lots of really smart people who use the facts that are available to theorize their conclusions. In other words they have the faith of their convictions.

Though I don't claim to be a scientist, I'm somewhat read up on the issue....According to modern theories, the universe DOES end....outside of the edge of the universe is nothing...not even a vaccuum...that would be something...I don't completely understand it myself.

some people believe there is an end, others believe there is no end.

no one really has any proof for or against either, its just all theory.

Its just like some people believe in heaven, others do not and some people only believe in what there is scientific proof for.

Rememeber this though - seeing isnt believing, believing is seeing.

And you don't always need something physical to back up what it is that you believe.
