These fish can go for days without eating. Don't feed it anything except food designed for aquarium fish, and ideally, for betta's specifically. Buy some food tomorrow and feed your fish. It seems a lot easier than feeding it bugs which might have been exposed to pesticides.

mosquito larva are a betta's fav food in the wild. any very small water insect is also good. DON"T put in burger or ham. you will foul the water with FAT and create an oil layer on top of the water which will smother the fish. The cherios idea is OK as long as you only use very tiny pieces and not too many as bettas ARE carnivours. A very tiny speck of fish would work like tuna from a can if there is no oil on it.

Don't worry, they can stand at least 1 to 2 weeks without food. But try to get food for them within 1 week. Not anything oily as the oil will block the water surface, causing the fish to have breathing difficulty. Not the bread we eat cos' they contains vegetable oil and butter. Well, maybe any small insect or fruit and vegetable will do. You can consider plain white rice too.But I think small insect is better, even better than flakes and pellets they used to eat.

shrimp cut into pieces, ticks, ants. I gave these to mine for them to try it and they loved it. They can also eat bloodworms. Make sure the ants dont have poison in them. and ive read that some bettas have lived up to 1 week & 1/2 withou food an d survived. Hope this worked.

Most people actually usually over feed their fish, so going a couple of days without food won't damage it. Don't go too long though, but a couple of days will be fine.

you could probably give it fruit flies (if you have those in the house.) Don't worry- 2 days with food won't kill it. 2-3 days of fasting isn't fatal to bettas/// don't go much longer than that though.
Don't bother with Cheerios. Bettas are carnivores and won't benefit from Cheerios.

please dont buy betta fish they are confined to dirty bowls and vases. These tiny glass enclosures are hardly acceptable homes for bettas, who, in nature, swim in large ponds and streams. Sadly, many people buy betta fish because they think that they can “save them.” What they don’t realize is that this just creates a demand for them, so stores will just keep buying more and more fish, condemning them to miserable lives as a trinket or accessory in someone’s home. heres a site about them

Bettas are carnivorous. I'd try a tiny piece of burger or ham. Tiny, tiny. Better still, if you're not afraid of bugs, gnats, fruit flies or mosquitoes...house fly if you don't mind cutting it.

Actually, if you chop it up tiny....these guys like chicken, sausage, just about anything you eat. Can't believe you can't afford the $3 for their pellets, but...every now and then I treat my fighter to a real meal...
