Because you have to take crap from customers all day long and you are probably the lowest on the pay scale.

But on the upside - hopefully you will remember how much it sucks and will be a nicer customer whenever you go shopping!

many years ago I dated a girl I met who worked as a checkout chick. She worked that job to fund her studies and now earns big bucks as a dental assistant. Another girl who also worked the checkouts and cleaned toilets is now a commercial pilot flying Dash 8s. You work the crappy jobs to fund the studies to get the great jobs. These days, folks are too lazy to bother.

some years in the past, I worked as a food market cashier. as some distance because of the fact the unquestionably ringing up of merchandise, dealing with diverse kinds of cost, the interest isn't perplexing in any respect. some shops have scales that consumers can use to put in the marvelous code for produce which will print out a tag to be scanned. For the shops that have not have been provided that, cashiers do ought to memorize produce codes so as that they do no longer ought to maintain finding up the codes and would have quickly moving strains. the single maximum serious means to have is to be conscious of the customer and be waiting to communicate somewhat with strangers. status on one's ft for prolonged classes of time would be greater bodily taxing than walking for a similar quantity of time, so solid footwear and proper physique mechanics is important.

Because you become the focus against whatever grievance a customer there has against the company. They don't understand you're just doing it to get money.

Also you have the part where the customer believes they know everything and they are always right.

You're basically a slave.
You do the same thing, over and over.
The customers are rude. And the customer is always right. (yeah)
You're supposed to be cheery and friendly to everybody (no matter how you feel inside)
You have to stand in one place for hours on end.

Did it many times, and yes it does suck.

Sigh, I've been there. Some days everyone targets you with their bad attitude, because they can.

Hey, try asking your union representative that question?

Seriously, take a class, study & get out of there.
Pursuit of happiness? It ain't that.

It doesn't if that is what you like ans want to do. If not, quit your job and use whatever skills you have in a job more to your liking. If you lack the skills, go back to school and get them! No one should ever work in a job they "hate."

Good luck!!
