Major airports auction it off, and the money goes to the state. I read an article one time that included a security supervisor's pic. He was holding a pair of fur-lined handcuffs to demonstrate what types of things they put up for bid.

Yes, they could use the stuff .... but how could anyone know if there is an explosive among those items ? Any of those items are suspicious items..that is the reason
why they were confiscated. Of course it takes expert personnel to check them out and that cost money .and
time. Beside, i don' t think that a bottle of water or a
mouth wash rinse could change the life of a homeless.

My bet is it goes in the trash. So if the homeless use it, they have to pick it out first. No one at the airport has the time to go picking through that stuff to sort it, bundle it, and ship it to charity.

I doubt it. My brother just flew from Philadelphia to Florida. He said that because of the threat in England everyone was made to throw out everything that was liquid and people were asked to throw out their medications. My brother was asked to throw out his ulcer medication and he refused, the woman behind him was told she had to throw out her heart medication...she threw a fit and was allowed to keep it. Other then medications that you might need in flight, you had to throw it all out. It made me wonder what the airport authorities were doing with the vicodine and prozac.

He said that all toiletries including cologne went into a rubbish bin and a woman was screaming that she just threw $300 in cosmetics away.

It makes me not want to fly again.

just a random thought, this reminds me of robin hood and his merry men. :-) the confiscated stuff can really be used by the homeless if they were given to them.

If it's abandoned, it frequently does get auctioned, sometimes on EBay. I think the toiletries are all tossed.

lol...like all the drugs, weapons, liquor and sharps? Or just the stuff from today, liquids and gels?

Yah, that's just what the homeless need, lol.
