how come the website indyballet.org does not come up in a yahoo search of ballet companies etc?

a new ballet company and website in Indianapolis does not come up in any web searches on yahoo or google WHY

Maybe because it's not a ballet company, but just a ballet school? ;-)

Actually, the main reason probably has to do with the fact that the site is new. Search engines use a variety of factors for including sites in a search because they're aiming to provide credible results. So factors such as popularity (number of hits) and how many other sites link to it play a role.
