The UK JTAC (joint terrorism analysis centre) terror threat level is still at the Critical (Red) level, which means "an attack is expected imminently". So all of you people complaining about the restrictions on luggage might want to think twice. THIS IS NOT OVER. There are reports that 5 of the plotters might still be at large. Are you scared? Maybe you should be.

Daniel H: what do you mean they caught them this time? This is my very point. They DIDN'T catch them ALL this time. There is still a good chance one or two planes could be blown from the sky within the next few days.

Hold on for a second: I understand that people feel more
uneasy when they are at 30000 feet, but its still a trade-off...

Why not simply eliminate air travel? It would be safer.

What is the "Acceptable risk"? That is, do you have any
idea for yourself, how many people dying of terrorist related
activities per total miles flown would be acceptable to you?
How about fatalaties from flu per total miles flown?

You're still safer (even with terrorists) in an airplane than you
are in a car - and I don't see people cutting back on the use
of cars due to safety, do you?

There is a serious cost to the economy and the quality of
lives with each security step added to air travel. Some get
us a lot of safety for relatively little (checking the ID of the
would-be traveler against the ticket) and some don't gain us
much for huge cost (explosive sniffing machines).

Remember: People DIE from poverty. That is, the cost
of adding steps like this to the system adds to the overall
mortality rate - its a tradeoff.

At least in the short run, until we understand just how
fluids can be used, I think it is a worthwhile tradeoff.

However, we are not safe, we were never safe and we
will never be safe. There are lots of tradeoffs and people
are awfully willing to give up things for a false sense of
security.

Yes I am scared because I do not want to see any more terroristic attacks. Its sad that people have to resort to this level of violence. I think that one day we aren't even going to be allowed to bring anything into an airport except the clothing on our backs. Our luggage will have to be sent another way. Sad.

I'm not scared because I refuse to let the terrorists get the best of me. However, I do agree that people should stop complaining about the restrictions and the time it is taking to catch their flights. Would they rather get to their destinations late or not get their at all?

I've heard that it's more than that--like 11! People are self-absorbed idiots many times, whether they mean their whines or they think it's funny. Why is it still red for you but not here? Anyway, thanks to all of you for your hard work and friendship!
