Can it be PCOS?

Question

Although both scans i have had show no ovarian cysts my doctor has diagnosed PCOS due to thinning hair, excess body hair and a slightly raised hormone level.
Could it be anything else?

These are some of the symptoms of PCOS, if they seem to relate to your symptoms then I'd take a wild guess and say your doc is right.............after all, he did train for years and years and years!!!!

infrequent menstrual periods, no menstrual periods, and/or irregular bleeding
infertility or inability to get pregnant because of not ovulating
increased growth of hair on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes
acne, oily skin, or dandruff
pelvic pain
weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist
type 2 diabetes
high cholesterol
high blood pressure
male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs
skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area
sleep apnea―excessive snoring and breathing stops at times while asleep.

I'm sure those symptoms could indicate a number of conditions, but they do fit PCOS.

Get another opinion if you are not comfortable with that diagnosis. Your doctor won't mind and you will be sure.

some cysts do not show up on x-rays as cysts are made up of body tissue.

menopause is an alternate diagnosis

if you don't trust your doctor, get another one, it's called getting a second opinion.
i don't think you're going to find it here ...

i would say yes but get a 2ND option
